"Zack Snyder's Justice League" (trailer) is well worth the wait. I fully enjoyed the film. Dark, brooding, funny, action-packed, and wildly entertaining. Snyder and his team did quite well making the updated movie.
Is it a masterpiece? No, of course it has flaws.
Did it entertain? - Of course!
Is it worth the hype? - Yes.
Did it excite me for future DC films? - Oh. Yeah.
Although it is four hours long, the film sustained my attention and impressed me. The story carried quickly and did not feel lengthy. Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Ray Fisher, Jared Leto, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller, Willem Dafoe, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Connie Nielsen, J.K. Simmons, Ciarán Hinds were fully committed and entertaining. I was especially impressed with the villain arcs of the improved Steppenwolf and the long-awaited feature of Darkseid.
This film is another demonstration for what streaming services can do for filmmaking. I'm all about seeing movies in theaters and miss the movie theater, but streaming blockbuster-type movies is encouraging for the future of film.
This is another valid argument for more R-rated superhero films. R-rated films explore darker and more serious themes as well as show the true hard-hitting consequences of the protagonists and antagonists. This is my main complaint about many superhero films – the violence and morally compromising actions don’t carry much weight when it’s dumbed down. “Logan”, “Deadpool”, “Blade”, “Blade II”, “Watchmen”, and “Kick-Ass” are highly respected films that not only bring in large revenue but entertain with little restraints.
The future of the DCEU is bright.
#ReleaseTheSnyderCut – it’s worth it!
